Paul Walsh is the Chief Operating Officer of Australian Industry Standards and has held positions in transport and logistics industry operations both as an employee and as a company owner amassing more than 30 years of experience.  

Australian Industry Standards (AIS) has been working with the Transport and Logistics industry for over 27 years, developing nationally recognised qualifications that provide the workforce with contemporary and transferable skills. AIS gathers intelligence on the trends, opportunities and challenges facing industry and provides highly sought-after research and analysis that informs Governments, businesses and regulators on skills needs and policy settings.

Paul was instrumental in establishing the new working arrangements with 11 Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) in 2016, including those for the Transport and Logistics sectors (Rail, Maritime, Aviation and Transport & Logistics). He maintains strategic oversight and management of these IRCs, while also providing strategic advice to government on ongoing improvement measures for all IRCs in the Australian VET system. Paul is responsible for maintaining relationships with key industry stakeholders, regulators, and representatives of Federal and State Governments.

Paul has had extensive experience in International Skills Capability Building Projects involving the establishment of recognition frameworks across APEC, IORA and LATAM communities in the Transport and Logistics and Ports industries. These frameworks have been developed with a strong focus on developing current and future skills through industry engagement.
